(415) 221-0665I grew up in the San Francisco Bay area and studied biomedical engineering at UC Berkeley in undergrad. I continued my engineering education in graduate school at MIT to enhance my understanding of medical technology and its applications toward ameliorating human suffering. In medical school, I fell in love with orthopaedics, and specifically total joint replacement, because of our ability to directly improve patients' quality of life through the application of cutting edge technology. I completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Stanford in Biodesign and Innovation as I am very interested in helping push the field of medicine further while staying up to date on innovations in orthopaedics. It is great to be back in the bay area practicing medicine and taking care of people from where I grew up.
As a surgeon I feel that my job goes far beyond the technical aspect of performing surgery as meticulously and accurately as possible. My role begins in the office where I strive to thoroughly investigate the source of your pain through a detailed history, physical exam and analysis of relevant laboratory, X-ray and MRI data. I make a point to explain the findings to help you understand the cause of your suffering, what the prognosis may be, and the various treatment options that we can provide. When it comes time to consider surgery, I give an honest perspective regarding the risks and benefits to help you make an informed decision. If you decide to have surgery, my team and I will guide you through every step of the process. Even after surgery, we will follow you closely to ensure a rapid recovery. I have a special interest in taking care of athletes and fellow health care providers and am sensitive to their specific needs.
